Cute Card Thursday ~ Valentines

Valentines is the theme for the challenge on Cute Card Thursday this week!
We have another fabulous sponsor, Denise Lynn of Whimsy Stamps is donating 2 fantastic stamps for one lucky winner!
Denise is also one of our guest designers this week along with Juliet who again has made a fabulous card for us for her second and last week as guest designer. Thank you both for your fantastic cards!
The DT cards are amazing as usual and all so different so lots of Valentines inspiration for you!
I had to use this sweet little stamp from Sugar Nellie 'Luvvie'
she is so perfect for Valentines.
I wanted to steer away from pink and flowers etc for this card as it is for my DH and he really doesn't like those things on a card for him! I think this is fairly 'manly', I reckon he will appreciate that it has 'no frills'!
I was so lucky with this ribbon, it came ready tied on a pair of my daughter's PJs! Supplies: DP ~ Laura Ashley and DCWV Old World stack.
Stamps ~ Sugar Nellie 'Luvvie', 7 Gypsies 'Notting Hill', Stampin' Up 'Best Wishes and more'
Tools ~ Cuttlebug, Nestabilities, sewing machine

Sugar Bowl Challenge - Three

I made this card for the Sugar Bowl challenge which this time is 'three'. You have to use 3 different patterned papers, 3 different embellishments and 3 Sugar Nellie images. I almost left out one of the patterned papers as the torn corner bit was meant to go inside but I managed to fit in on the front instead! My 3 embellishments are flowers, ribbon and adhesive gems.

The style of this card is called a joy fold card you can find the tutorial for it here
the tutorial is by the ever so talented Beate from Fresh and Fun
This was a very satisfying card to make, it feels so heavy and luxurious!

The ribbon holds the whole thing together when closed as it is quite bulky on the inside!

The images were coloured with watercolour paints, my usual medium!

The sentiment is from a pack of Basic Grey 'Sugared' rub ons.
Supplies: DP ~ K&Co 'Hannah', Basic Grey 'Sugared'
Stamps ~ All from Sugar Nellie
Embellishments ~ Prima flowers, Kaiser gems, ribbon and flower centres from stash.

Ismaki 09/004 ~ something different!

Are you ready for something different? When I saw the Ismaki sketch today I just fancied something with a little elegance! The flower stamp is from a Basic Grey pack called Insignia. The other swirls are from a pack of 7 gypsies stamps I bought from Katy's shop The Glitter Garden last week. I did so well, I got all my new stamps in the Sale and they were such a bargain!
Back to the challenge, Ismaki sketch 09/004 which was set by Manue. the option this week is to use paint. I used a little watercolour paint to colour my stamped flowers.
Sorry about the wonky photo, I am having one of those days....mmm monday again!
Supplies: DP ~ K&Co 'Blue Awning' and matching journal pad
Stamps ~ Basic Grey 'Insignia', 7 Gypsies 'Notting Hill'
Embellishments ~ Martha Stewart ribbon, Prima flower with Papermania metal embellishment

Robert Burns Celebration

Today is the birthday of Robert Burns so it seemed appropriate to make a Scottish themed card. I had to use one of my wee kilted Sugar Nellies, this one is 'Dancing Maggie'. There are lots of Burns night celebrations going on this week and the schools even put on special Burns lunches of Haggis, neeps and tatties. (Haggis, turnip and mashed potato). I haven't made our haggis dinner yet but maybe next weekend! Love the stuff!
It is a very simple card as I spent most of yesterday painting up some images for a more elaborate project which seems to be taking forever! I also helped Milly create her card for the Crafty Monkeys challenge which is a sketch by the very talented Hannah. I was also called upon frequently to help my youngest son find the pieces for his Lego Star Wars Death Star...don't ask!
Maybe I will get a picture of it so far! Half built!

ooh, I am very chatty today, must crack on, I need lots of cards for Feb/March!

Hope you are all having a great weekend, thanks for dropping by!

Supplies: DP~ EK Success 'Stacy Claire Boyd'

Stamps ~ Sugar Nellie 'Dancing Maggie'

Embellishments ~ Papermania metal accessories, Papermania ribbon, lace

Ismaki 09/003

This is my interpretation of the Ismaki sketch 09/003
I do love the Ismaki sketches, they always push you that bit further than you might normally go. The option this week was to use at least 3 different stamps, I actually used 4!
The sweet Tilda is from the Summer Club Kit 2008, the sentiment stamp is from a SU set called Best Wishes and more, the handmade card stamp I think is from Cat's life Press and the calendar stamp is from Imaginisce.
The DP is Basic Grey 'Sugared' and the little button is from Laura Ashley, the flowers are Primas. Small pearls are Papermania.
Thanks for your visit!

Tilda and friends ATC - something sticky

The challenge on Tilda and Friends ATC this week is something sticky.
As this is a masculine ATC and I want to keep it flat so that I can turn it into a bookmark I was limited with embellishments. I found these sticky ribbons by Laura Ashley which went pretty well with the K&Co DP.
The image is Magnolia and the sentiment stamp is Stampin' up.

Have a Giggle!
We want you to have fun this week, add a bit of humour to your card!
Lets face it we all need cheering up at this time of the year!

I used a fab Bella image I received in a RAK. She is perfect to go with this fun quote.
It says "Never eat more than you can lift"!
We have a sweet Sugar Nellie stamp to give away this week, make sure you drop by to check out the challenge!
Do check out the rest of the DT's cards they are so fabulously funny!

Sugar Nellie GDT card and Spoonful of sugar

Over at A Spoonful of Sugar this week the theme is
Paper Piecing
I have been playing around with this image for a week or so now and finally decided to get it finished for this challenge. I used a lot more colours than I normally do, also a lot brighter and I think that was why I couldn't finish it earlier, just wasn't satisfied. I was so out of my comfort zone on this card!
The very sweet image is, of course, a Sugar Nellie stamp called
'Lola's tea party' designed by Rachelle Anne Miller
although I already owned the stamp it came in my Guest DT package. I will be giving away the brand new stamp (even I don't need 2 the same!) as candy next week on the Cute Card Thursday challenge, make sure you tune in, we have a fab new challenge starting tomorrow morning!

I used my paper piecing to add a 3 d effect and also cut out bits of the patterned paper to add extra embellishments.
Supplies:
DP~ Papertrunk Jellybean lemon lime and berry blue
Stamps ~ Sugar Nellie 'Lola's tea party', See D's balloons stamp
Embellishments ~ Rik rak, rub on from stash, heart charm and link from Sugar Nellie

Here is my entry to this weeks Ismaki sketch challenge. It is sketch 002 and the option is diamonds.

My diamonds are in the patterned paper if you closely at the background!
I have been going through some older images as I have decided I must use some of my older stamps again, most have only been used for 1 card each! I am going to try to use each one at least once more this year! (New Year's Resolution).
Supplies:DP~ Basic Grey 'sugared'
Stamps ~ Magnolia and Stampin' Up 'circle of friendship'
Embellishments ~ Prima flowers, Dovecraft brads, silver bead cap from Ebay

Tilda and friends ATC and Arty Girlz bookmark

There is a fabulous new challenge over at Tilda and friends ATC challenge

The theme is new stuff! I decided to use this sweet new stamp that was sent in my Guest DT package from Sugar Nellie. It is the perfect size to fit on an ATC!
ATCs are perfect for adding to cards as toppers or, as I decided to do, other projects!
I decided to make my ATC into a bookmark and am thrilled with the result. I am keeping this one for me but will definitely be making more to give away! Now I can enter it into the Arty Girlz challenge which was to make something other than a card!

The great thing about ATCs is they can be made with scraps and they are so quick. Then they can be kept until you need to make something in a hurry! This often happens to me although my New Years resolution is to be more organised this year!
Supplies: DP:Basic Grey 'offbeat'
Stamps ~ Sugar Nellie 'Wish', Studio G sentiment
Other ~ brown cardstock, staples, ribbon and watercolour paints
Just before Christmas a delicious parcel of goodies arrived from my Secret Sister from our SBS4 group. I can't tell you how thrilled I was with all my pressies!
Thank you Secret Sister, I love them all!

I was honoured to receive this fabby award from super talented and sweet Carol.

Thank you so much, I really appreciate that you thought of me!

I am sorry that I never do these properly, I rarely pass these on as I always feel too bad about not picking everyone!

Have a great weekend and thanks so much for your visit!

Sugar Bowl Challenge - sketch by Tiets

This stamp is one from my Guest DT package from Sugar Nellie, it is one of my favourites of Simon and Lola, they are so sweet, looking all snuggly.
I made this card for the Sugar Bowl first challenge which was a fabulous sketch by Tiets, do pop over and join in they have an amazing prize on offer and you still have another week to participate!
I am thrilled that I have been able to get so many cards made this week! After a long break I wondered if I would ever find the time again! Only a little bit of normality though as I have 2 little people home from school, what looked like a bad cold now is looking more like flu. The poor things, they have never been so still for so long or so quiet! They are both lying on the sofa watching the Family Movie channel!

Supplies: DP~K&Co 'Blue Awning',
Stamps~ Sugar Nellie 'Simon and Lola', SU 'circle of friendship'
Embellishments~ Prima flowers, K&Co Blue Awning journal pad, Basic Grey rub-ons

Case a sister challenge

This is my 'Case a Sister' challenge card. My SBS 4 group have a little challenge running to case another Sister's card and the other sisters have to try to find out which Sister was cased.
As soon as I saw the card I knew it was the one to case. I chose a sister who's cards I have always admired and am lucky enough to own a couple that she sent me! they are even more beautiful in real life! I love the clean simple lines and it was such a joy to try out a style quite different from my own.
If you would like to try to find the sister I cased you will find links to all the sisters blogs. The card has to be one from only a month back to make it easier to find.
Hint - I cased the layout but changed the paper, sentiment and the image!

Supplies: Cardstock 'white Bazzill
DP : Sandylion 'Snowflake'
Stamp : Snowbunnybella
Accessories : Snowflake punch, Papermania adhesive stones, piercing tool,
