Baby card for Beate's sketch #18

My take on Beate's weekend sketch #18. It just so happens that I need a baby card for December for a new niece or nephew so I have made one of each, December is too busy to be caught out not having a suitable card! I bought these stamps from Panduro a year ago, I absolutely love them, I am sure they will never lose their appeal. I don't have a scallop circle punch, yet, so had to make my scallops using a corner rounder which I then used on the card corners to follow through the theme.

Supplies: Basic white and blue cardstock, Panduro rubber stamps, patterned paper - Sue's Blue Plaid by Sue Dreamer, blue organdy ribbon, EK success corner rounder, image coloured with watercolour paints.

Mulberry for wednesday stamper

My very first card for the Wednesday Stamper challenge which was to use mulberry/handmade paper. I used a small amount just behind my image.

supplies: White and pink basic cardstock, stamps from Panduro, ribbons from Ribbon Oasis and All About Craft.

DCM Tearing purple holes for Christmas and CPS #29

We were promised a stinker this week and we weren't disappointed. The DCM challenge this week was to make a Christmas Card but........it had to have some Purple, some torn paper and yikes... a hole! This one had me well out of my comfort zone, pretty sure I have never made a purple Christmas card before, don't make many purple cards for that matter but after hours and hours I finally came up with this one, conveniently using the CPS sketch #29 which I have also struggled with this week!

Supplies: purple bazzill cardstock, light purple pearlescent card, pink mulberry paper, small snowflake punch, Studio G tiny clear stamps for the greeting, clear embossing powder, black ink and the very gorgeous snowflakes are from Papercraft, Midori which was a pack sent to me as a gift from my friend who lives in Malaysia, thanks Wendy!

Caardvarks Stickers

The Caardvarks challenge this week was to use stickers on your cards. I dug out my most recent stickers which I got in my fantastic Love Elsie 'Toby' kit and came up with this-

supplies: Love Elsie 'Toby' patterned papers, cardstock stickers and chipboard button. Chocolate Bazzill card, Brown and teal organdy ribbons from Ribbon Oasis, paper piercing and machine stitching.

Cardi heaven

Would love to say, look what I just made but unfortunately it is not my creation, would love to knit something like this but I get bored when knitting anything bigger than a scarf! Been in town this morning and saw this, had to have it, how gorgeous is it? this is of course where I get my name from 'cardi-higgins' given to me by DH because of my love of cardis and all things knitted for that matter! Well, who doesn't.

Can you see a trend here, think I am in my brown phase!

And thought I would share my near perfect home made loaf. Not completely my creation either as I just tossed a load of ingredients into the bread maker and it did its thing, how fantastic are they? I don't seem to have the muscles for real hand made bread making they are always a bit disappointing so this is good enough for me, makes me think I am that much closer to being self-sufficient.

A big softy!

Tuesdays little extra is a big softy! Easy for me as I am a big softy!

"You Big Softie" We want you to use something soft on your card feathers, velvet paper, fluffy fibresall that soft, strokable stuff counts for this one and that's it, easy-peasy, lemon-squeezy!

I decided to use the Sisterhood of Scrap sketch for this week.

My softy bit is the gorgeous pink velvet rik rak, just love this stuff! This one is from Ribbon Oasis. Paper is Sandylion pink paisley, stamp is Inkadinkado, I also used a pin, mulberry flowers, pearl brads and some tiny half pearls which must have come out of a multi pack of embellis, they are in compartments in my embelli box so not sure now where they came from, on and some beads also from some multi pack I suspect. The bloom is Bazzill.

Bee - ds for Caardvarks!

A card for Caardvarks micro challenge, one day only, to use beads on a card. I decided to use this little bee made from beads and wire, they are great fun to make if a little fiddly.

Supplies: green and white cardstock, papers were a recent freebie gift from the september issue of Quick and Crafty, Bazzill blooms, dovecraft brad, making memories cheeky flat clip, ribbon, black, yellow and white beads and a fine guage wire.

Trio of welsh barbers and fibres

Managed to get 2 in 1 this week, the dcm challenge this week was to use 3 die cuts and the Caardvarks challenge was to use fibres on your card:

Here are Lythan's "simple" rules:If you don't have access to die cuts in any shape or from, you can still play along. You can then use punches. And if you don't have punches then you can do hand cutting. See how nice I am?BUT no cheating now! No reaching for the scissors if you have a machine to hand - or even some old die cuts you bought ages ago (that would be me then!) You CAN use punches and scissors etc as well as die cuts though. See, very nice!!

I had to make a card for DD1 this week from her brothers and sister as it doesn't look like they are going to get around to making one themselves so I decided as I had this cute little cricut chihuahua I would base the card around that. Although we have a little dog she would love a chihuahua to carry around like Paris!

supplies: Cricut dog, 2 floral punches, Paper Stella ruby, copper, black and green cardstock, resist technique using clear pigment ink and chalks used on pearlescent ivory card with See D's bone stamp. Hi its Keryn here and it's my turn to set the dare this week. But before I do that thanks so much for the fabulous cards you've made for Jo's Frilly Dare and the Dots and Dashes little extra. We really enjoy looking at your cards.
I know you've all got buttons stashed away somewhere, whether they've been purchased at a cardmaking store or you thriftily snipped them off DH's old shirt. I'd like you to find those buttons and use them somewhere on a card. They can be real buttons, craft shop buttons, die cut buttons, faux buttons or another type of button, surprise us all.

We'd like you to make a card featuring dots and dashes, spots and stripes - that's it, a nice easy and fun little theme for you to play with - just make sure you get both spots AND stripes on your card.

Well, I seem to have put everything on this card!

Supplies - Penny Black Stamp - Shop til drop, Rhona Farrer big swirls stamp, Sassafras Lass stitched borders stamp (dashes) and a tiny 'friend' stamp from a kiddie set from Tescos. Paper all Papermania vibrant colossal pack, Bazzill Wings Bitty Blossom and cardstock, button and ribbon from stash.

Scotch mist

It was a misty old morning and look who flew past my kitchen window first thing. Bertie the buzzard, he is gorg! the shot is poor due to the mist and the fact that by the time I switched lenses he had flown off, the little buzzard! You can see him better if you click on him!

DCM frilly bits

This is my 'frilly bits' card for this weeks dcm challenge

Jo set the challenge which was :

You must make a card with a frill - it could be some lace, frilly ribbon, a hand cut or decorative scissor edge or a folded paper frill - or what ever you choose to make.... you decide

I used DCWV old world stack for the background papers, a See D's cling stamp, lace, eyelets and ribbon. The little metal plaque says 'friendship' I can't remember the make but when I find them again I will update.

CPS # 26 and Daring Cardmakers Photo and little extra

My first Christmas card for this year! This card is for the cps #26 sketch. Papers are all from Basic Grey Dasher collection pack, greetings stamp is inkadinkado,Prima flowers, Basic Grey brad and Making Memories photo anchor.
This one is for the DCM dare this week which is Photo finish, to use a photograph on your card. I have also used the sketch for todays little extra so combined the 2 this week as I am running out of time. The 'photo' is from a pack from lakeland limited, plain black and white cardstock from Papermill, staples and black and white ric rac.
Kids are back to school so I should have more time but lost today trying to make a header to go on here, still not succeeded despite resizing my photos to fit. Any suggestions? Giving up for today, still have some labels to sew into school uniform for tomorrow.

This lot made me laugh today, my very savage, ferocious dog went to chase the cows off but they were so fascinated by her they came in for a closer look!

and the bonus of the day, the sun actually returned, it has been a bleak week here in bonny Scotland!

Using up old junk and new neighbours......

Today I found a micro challenge on Caardvarks to use up the scraps from the junk bowl, we also had to show the bowl .......
I couldn't use everything in there, what a heap of junk, most needs to visit the wheelie bin, but I did manage to find some things that went together reasonably well. I have been saving bits from new clothes, ribbons and gorgeous labels which are too delic to just throw away...... here is what I ended up with-

Also been busy this week making other cards firstly a wedding card.......

and some football mad cards, have a few of these birthdays coming up, I don't like making the same card twice so although very similar in design each one is very different.

and so onto our new neighbours. I got such a fright the other night to suddenly see this lot bounding towards us!

Meet Daisy, she is obviously the trouble maker, lost her ear-ring in a fight!

I can't stop watching them, they stare into the kitchen window and watch us watching them! My tiny dog went out to bark at them the other night and when a huge one just stood looking at her she turned around and scarpered...so funny!

Tuesdays little Extra sorry and CPS #24

Tuesday's little extra dare was to make a card to say sorry -

Stash used - Basic Grey Starlight and snowfall holly and tag from the Dasher collection. Fibres are Dovecraft Christmas.
This card was made using the sketch from the CPS #24 sketch challenge.
The embossed paper is K&Co that I have had ages, Bazzill blossoms and vintage lace and ribbon. Not sure what make the small greeting is as I have had it ages too!

Squares and Highland Games

This week the dcm challenge was to make a card using squares :Well Hello !! Friday has come round again soooo fast ! Its my turn (Jane) to dare this week. Okay -are you ready ? For my dare you can choose any theme for the card BUT it must incorporate 'Checks', whether it be gingham paper or ribbon or squares, any thing really as long as it incorporates some kind of shape with 4 equal sides....... so go on- I dare you to think outside the square/step out of the box ..............easy as, eh ?!!

I used lots of scraps of patterned paper to do some serendipity, been collecting bits for ages. Flowers are Bazzill Blossoms, Bazzill itty bitty blossom and just pots funky flowers.

Today was also the Highland Games, we had a fantastic time!

What a day, all this and the most fantastic seafood on offer from a local restaurant. The rain almost held off, just a couple of showers so we did well really!

Cardvaarks Ribbon Challenge

This is my entry to the Cardvaarks ribbon challenge!

It was made almost entirely using Love Elsie -Toby from the kit. The square is woven ribbon and the plait is made up of 3 sheer ribbons.

I have just spotted the new Love Elsie range, I love it and want it all, see it on Elsie's blog I am starting my Christmas list right now! I have beaten the kids to it this year, they always start their Christmas lists when the new Argos book comes out!

This didn't photograph well but the paper is so gorgeous I didn't feel I needed to add too much more to it. the paper was from a Dovecraft pack of floral prints by Kate Knight. The sentiment was a freebie from a magazine from ages ago.

I have been busy today scrapping our holiday pics which just arrived at lunch time. I saved the love Elsie kit 'specially as it had a travel theme. The colours are perfect and I have so loved using it all.....not that I have used it all, I have loads left for more layouts, of course more cards and I intend to make a mini book of our holiday too. Busy night ahead for me! This is the first time I have bought a kit like this but it is fab as everything goes together beautifully, it makes it all so easy, I have a feeling it won't be the last kit I buy!

Back from our jollies

and it is so good to be home! the holiday itself was so relaxing but a week was plenty. Before it though we had the car ride from hell, the trip that normally takes 5 1/2 hours took 10 due to being stuck in a 10 mile tail back for 5 1/2 hours because of the T in the Park traffic at Edinburgh! It was extraordinary seeing people walking along the hard shoulder to stretch their legs and even more so, using the basic toilet facilities on the embankment!!!

The villa was comfortable apart from being hot at night and the pool was absolutely blissful, we stayed out till late most days, eating dinner still in our cossies and going back for another dip at 8pm. I did seem to be very attractive to the mosquitos who found me very palatable and left me with great huge itchy lumps after their feasting. Of course forgot to get antihistimine cream!

After the hols we stayed in England for a few days for our eldest to attend her old school leaving party ( 6months after she left the school but never mind, it was lovely to see her catch up with her old friends). I was going to stay to help out but ended up with a small lump of hot charcoal jumping into my eye so I had to have a mini excursion to the hospital! After 3 days it is improving, the swelling has gone down but it continues to weep buckets! I have loads of cardmaking to do this week to catch up on so hope the dodgy eye doesn't result in squiffy crafting! I have some delightful antibiotic cream to squeeze into my eye 4 times a day which I think may be causing some of the blurriness and excessive weeping. I think I will hide out in my craft room for the next 3 weeks til the new school term starts, much safer! Although is it? When I moved my desk into here just before the holiday I dropped the top on my foot and nearly fainted with the pain. Do you think this is not my month?
